Purdue is the first school to release their non-conference schedule and OHIO is on it.

Curious to see what type of schedule we end up with all the new faces.

I favor H/H's with equal or better mid-majors more than P5 games, but cool to see us on Purdue's schedule. On the plus side of facing Purdue this year, there's no more Braden Smith, Cluff, Kaufman-Renn, or Fletcher Loyer.

Identity isn't established yet, but I'm guessing it runs through Princeton transfer Caden Pierce who sat out this past season. Catching the early on might make for a closer game.

This the type of game Miami says they can't schedule. We'll see. Painter was none too happy about Steele's posturing last year.

Ted's mind went right where mine did...I thought Mr Steele said we can't do this? Can't wait to see what Miami's schedule looks like for 26-27. I will never believe the narrative they tried and tried and simply couldn't get tougher opponents. And I also firmly believe their team would've been nothing of any national noteworthiness if they played our schedule.

Can we get them to come back to Athens the following season like they did a few years ago?

Probably only if it's wrapped in with a football deal like it was the last time.

I’d take that deal. Purdue is a very winnable game for us in football and it’s not far to travel for a road game.

You're making an assumption that Purdue thinks of us and Miami as similar. Why would they?

If fiami would stop demanding 150,000 for OOC games vs big teams valued at a payout of around 80k (based on what tOSU was paying last season) they could have played some big conference teams instead of playing Mercy Hearst (?) who they almost lost to anyway.

I bet the 5th place team in the SEC (Tennessee) isn't afraid to play fiami. If you catch my drift.

What else is likely?

@Marshall, probably @Maine, St. Mary's in the Convo?

Have the decided to cut back the SBC challenge to one game or is it still two?

There is also the rumored return game we still owe vs. Davidson in Charlotte.

I guess I don't catch your "drift" on this one. The Zips played at West Lafayette last year and anyone would consider the Zips program superior to Reds prior to 2025/2026 season.

In addition to this point, every scheduling discussion is a negotiation. JSF I can't read the article you sent but saying "these schools turned Miami down" means nothing. When did they ask, what did they ask for, etc.? I suspect much of Steele/Miami's narrative is built on when they were trying to fill out the last couple games of their schedule late in the game when many were set or looking for something very specific. I obviously know scheduling as a solid mid-major is difficult, but Miami's schedule was historically awful and I refuse to accept their BS narrative.

I hope Davidson is on the docket in CLT. Would love to have them down and would tailgate for that one for sure.

I doubt there's a return to Maine. That game feels similar to Robert Morris, UNC Ashville, and Morehead State from two years ago. Just one and done in convo. I bet we see similar home games, however.

@Marshall I expect. Davidson in Charlotte would be cool, would just be strange to have a year in between that return game.

I suspect we'll be part of that Cleveland slate again if not. New mid-major H/H equal to Illinois State and Delaware? Another destination tourney? Just looking at our scheduling trends the past few seasons.
