If you want to know all of the updates on the former Ohio University football coach's lawsuit against the university for wrongful termination, read my latest column in the Athens County Independent. It includes some important dates and other court orders.

"On June 24, Judge Sadler issued a legal document called an Original Scheduling Notice outlining key dates or benchmarks to meet for the case to proceed.

She set the case for trial for Dec. 6–10, 2027. Please note that this date is about a year-and-a-half from now. Without a settlement, this case will not end quickly."

Billable hours remains undefeated.

I do a lot of expert testiony.

I have always been taught that a fair settlement out weighs any jury trial,
since you never know how a jury is going to vote.

This will not be a jury trial, if it gets that far. It'll be trial by judge, so to speak.

The speed of the US legal system, always a joy.

Makes me think he isn't lining up football jobs, and is hoping for a seven-eight figure payday.

It's not my reputation on the line, but I would've moved on from this quick as possible and moved to the next coaching role that would have me. Rebuild my life. Distance myself from this and always refer to it as a bump in the road that you're trying to move on from. Instead they're dragging this out for another full year, everything gets dragged out into the light, and put on the record, while you get another year older, another year out of coaching, hoping for a light at the end of a long, dark tunnel.

Or he really thinks the university did wrong and that he isn't guilty of what they're accusing. Kinda respect him for standing up for what he believes in - I have no idea if he's right or wrong, but if he's going this far he probably has some kind of case.

Also - not like schools are lining up to take a guy who was accused of such things, most likely. Probably could get hired at Liberty though...
